Email policy for group messages to current Satellite members

The purpose of this policy is to prevent our members from receiving excessive numbers of e-mails. We have two email groups for messages to our members. The main group is for the general membership for messages about trips and club activities organized with board approval. The second group is for messages about skiing, carpooling, hiking, camping, parties, rock climbing, lost and found, and other messages from any member. These do not need board approval and will go out immediately.
  1. To send an email message to the general membership which needs board approval, you address it to sskiclub@yahoogroups.com
  2. Two messages per event.
  3. No more than one per week.
  4. The advertising should be of interest and benefit to our club members and should be somehow related to skiing or other activities we do.
  5. Exceptions can be granted with approval of the ski club officers.

The process after you send the message

  1. Some board members will see your message and decide to approve or reject it.
  2. If approved, it is sent to all members.
  3. If rejected, you will receive a message about the rejection.
  4. The message might be approved quickly or there might be a delay, perhaps hours, before your message is sent due to numerous factors. So please allow sufficient time before the event to post your message.

The miscellanous messages which do not need board approval.

  1. You address it to sskiclubchat@yahoogroups.com
  2. The messages should be of interest and benefit to our club members.
