Utah Green River flatwater canoe trip July 3-10, 2010 below*
Email me if you plan to go and indicate long trip or short trip.
July 3 - Drive to Moab. Stay in Motel. Book your own. Have all you stuff bagged and ready to go.
July 4 - Be at Tag-A-Long in Moab at 8 am. They take us and boats to put in at Ruby Ranch. Start down the Green River.
July 6 - Short trip Ends- Arrive at Mineral Bottom. Meet your vehicle here and drive home.
July 6 - The long trip continues down the river.
July 10 - Arrive at confluence of the Colorado and get picked up by jet boat that takes us to Moab.
This Itinerary gives us plenty of time for side hikes. It is like a smaller version of the Grand Canyon but the water flows much much slower (class 1).
This is back country type trip. Bring a canoe, all water, food and everything you need to camp. Do not overload your boat but bring a chair if you can fit one in. Most canoes can fit one medium size cooler chest. Do a practice load before going to the put in. We will leave no trace and we will carry a solid human waste containment system that everyone must use. (No cat holes).
*Cost: $160 pp for shuttle service (from Tag-A-Long Expeditions (435)259-8946) with your canoe or kayak to the put in and get picked up at the confluence (long trip). $35 pp one way for short trip for shuttle service to put in and get picked up and your canoe at Mineral Bottom. The short trip people will probably want to leave a vehicle at Mineral Bottom. Budget $15-$20 per person for group supplies.
Canoe rental $22 to $32 per day depending on size (from Tag-A-Long Expeditions (435)259-8946). There are probably cheaper canoe rentals to be found. Many of us will take our own canoe or kayak. Get or rent your own boat. http://www.tagalong.com/index.php?page=JC0DD http://www.tagalong.com/index.php?page=JC0
Everyone will be making their own Shuttle reservation. They charge $50 for the Jet Boat up front that is non refundable. The balance is due later. I have a spare kayak that someone may borrow, however you must carry the group supplies.
Does anyone have a favorite cheap motel in Moab?

Moab 3 day camp and mountain bike trip Sept 30-Oct 3, 2010 see below
Join us in Moab to do some Mountain Biking. There are also lots of other activities to enjoy in Moab during the summer months like kayaking, rock climbing, 4X4 or whatever you desire. This is a great way to warm the bones before a long winter.
The main event taking place on this weekend is the Moab Outerbike. Outerbike is an outdoor bicycle demo event open to consumers. The world's best bike manufacturers will be bringing their new models to Moab. For more information visit outerbike.com or call 800-845-2453.
Option 1: Camping in SlickRock/Sand Flats Recreation Area. There are about 84 camp sites with fire pits and outdoor restrooms "no running water". These campsites will usually hold about 3-4 tents and 3 vehicles are permitted per site, possibly 4 or 5 if you're driving a moped! Camp fires are allowed in these campsites so bring firewood. I will be driving out early to reserve the number of campsites necessary to accommodate the number of people choosing this option.
The fee for this option is $10/vehicle per night or $30 for all 3 nights and $5/person. Shower Facilities are available in Moab for about $5/shower.
Option 2: Staying in a motel Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, or a minimum of two nights. Fee for this option is $156-185 for 3 nights lodging depending on where you stay.
A deposit of $10 for option #1 is required, with full payment due 30 days before September 30. A deposit of $100 for option #2 is required, with full payment due 30 days before September 30.
Cancellation Policy: There will be a $10 cancellation fee for option #2 if made before September 22. If a cancellation is made after September 22 there will be a charge of one nights lodging.
If you would like to sign up for this trip or have any questions please contact me.

SATELLITE SKI CLUB TRIP SIGNUP AND REFUND POLICY
![]()
Trip Code of Conduct - please read
Hopefully this is common sense to most people.
Beds: The club does its best to place couples in queen/king beds and individuals in twin beds. In some cases this is not possible. In situations where twin beds are not available in a unit, couples shall yield the largest bed to the two individuals that have to share a bed. Being a couple does not automatically entitle you to the master suite.
Guests: Last minute impromptu guests are permitted only with the permission of the trip chairperson and with the appropriate payment and membership or guest fees. Under no circumstances may a participant invite someone to stay in a unit without the permission of the trip chairperson. Any club banned members are not allowed in the rooms, condos, vehicles or other club rented facilities.
Party Room: On some trips, a party room is provided to the participants. Non-trip persons may not attend a party without the permission of the trip chairperson. An appropriate fee may be assessed. Given that the party room is occupied by people that desire a good night's sleep, the party shall end at a reasonable hour.
Noise: It is a certainty that we will be sharing the hotel/condo with other non-ski-club people. Many of them may have small children and may not share our enthusiasm for late night libations. Please be considerate! Move yourself and your bags into your room as quietly as possible. Talking loudly (or any other activity that makes noise) in the hallways is NOT permitted! If you are getting a group together to go out, assemble the group in a room or outside the building.
Ground Transportation: On some trips the club provides rental vehicles for use by trip participants. The use of the vehicle is determined by the democratic decision of the occupants. Please be respectful of the drivers, they should not be considered personnel chauffer. The vehicles are primarily for transportation to and from the ski areas. No one, including drivers, should consider the vehicle primarily for their own personal use.
Bathrooms: All bathrooms in a unit are communal, within reason. After skiing, bathrooms in a unit should be accessible to the next person needing to use it. The master bath in a unit is not necessarily for the exclusive use of the persons occupying the master suite. This does not imply that anyone in the unit may transition the master bedroom in the middle of the night to get to the master bath. People should always use good judgment and use the most accessible bathroom without disturbing others.
Pets: Pets are generally not permitted. On certain trips, pets may be permitted when the property management allows it, and the trip chairperson agrees to it, and all persons sharing the unit agree to it.
Last of all: NO WHINING! Constructive suggestions are welcome. Responses to whining will be offers of cheese and music from very small violins.
